Is Webflow good for a small business website?

For a marketing site of five to twenty pages, yes. Webflow publishes pages as static HTML, which means the content is readable by AI crawlers that execute no JavaScript, and there is no plugin stack to patch. The visual editor lets a non-developer make real changes safely.

The rendering point matters more than it sounds. AI crawlers do not execute JavaScript, so platforms that assemble pages in the browser are invisible to ChatGPT however good the content is. Webflow's published output is plain HTML, which clears that bar by default.

The honest caveat: a fast platform does not produce a fast site by itself. Oversized images, animation stacked on animation, and template bloat will drag a Webflow build down like any other. Core Web Vitals green at launch is part of the deliverable here, whatever the platform.

Should I use Webflow, WordPress, or a custom build?

Choosing between Webflow, WordPress, and a custom build depends on who edits the site, what it integrates with, and how much is riding on performance. Webflow suits design-led marketing sites a team edits itself. WordPress suits teams already running it or needing its plugin ecosystem. Custom server-rendered builds suit sites where speed and integrations carry revenue.

The platform recommendation comes from what the site must do, decided before the tooling question gets interesting. Nobody here earns more by steering you toward one platform.

When is Webflow the wrong choice?

When the site needs custom application logic, deep CRM or booking integrations, more than basic e-commerce, or content at a scale where per-item templating gets awkward. Webflow is also a hosting commitment — the site runs on Webflow's infrastructure, and leaving means rebuilding the dynamic parts.

  • Custom quoting tools, calculators, or client portals — application work, not page work.
  • Deep integrations with a CRM, dispatch, or billing system beyond what native embeds cover.
  • E-commerce past a simple catalogue — dedicated platforms do it better.
  • A team that will never touch the editor. Webflow's premium is for self-service editing; unused, it is just a premium.

Common questions

Do I own my Webflow website?
Yes. The Webflow account, the domain, and the content are all yours from day one — we work through delegated access and hand nothing back at the end, because nothing was held. Webflow's subscription is billed to you directly at cost, like every third-party platform fee here.
What does a Webflow site cost?
The standard website tiers apply: $3,500 for up to five pages and $7,500 for up to twelve with five pages professionally written. Webflow's own hosting subscription is separate and billed to you by Webflow. A care plan covers edits, monitoring and search upkeep; hosting itself is the platform's job.
Can you move my existing site into Webflow, or out of it?
Both directions, and each is treated as a redesign migration: every URL inventoried, rankings mapped, redirects in place before launch. Moving out of Webflow is the harder direction, because dynamic content and interactions have to be rebuilt on the destination platform rather than exported.
